How to avoid/solve 20% of your Webi Incidents ! - Webi Reports - Refresh on Demand

Refreshing a Web Intelligence document enables you to view data on demand. However, refreshing may use a considerable amount of system resources.

It can be run manually by the user or by turning on the “Refresh on open” document setting.

Note: The “Refresh on open” automatically refreshes the results in reports with the latest data from the database each time the document is opened. Data after the refresh is treated as new data because the refresh purges the document.

Before you can refresh data in a Web Intelligence document, you must have refresh rights for the document, and the server must contain the data source information

1. View/Reading mode

If you want to refresh a Webi document in “Reading” mode:

• Click on “Refresh” icon in the Webi toolbar: this will refresh all the queries in the document.
• If you click on the arrow next to the “Refresh” icon, you can choose which report query should be refreshed.
• Open the Web Intelligence document.
• Click on the “Refresh” icon in the toolbar.

2. Modify/Design mode

If you want to refresh a Webi document in “Design” mode:

• Click on “Refresh” icon in the Webi toolbar: this will refresh all the queries and document.
• Open the Web Intelligence document.
• Click on the “Refresh” icon in the toolbar.

3.   Refresh on open

If you want to turn on/off the “Refresh on open” document setting:

• Properties – Document – Document Summary – Options – Refresh on open
• Or use the quick keys: Ctrl + R
• Open the Web Intelligence document.
• Click on the “Refresh” icon in the toolbar.
